What is Buck converter

Buck Converters are basically devices that can step down the Dc voltage. These are the combination of inductor, capacitor and diode.

Configuration of buck converter is shown in fig 1.1. There are many different applications of buck converters in day today life :

1. The USB On-The-Go cable (OTG) : Bidirectional Buck converters are being used in OTG cables for power transfer in both directions. 
2. In Battery chargers of your phones and laptops.
3. Quad-copters
